Trondhjem Cemetery was established by Norwegian settlers, with the first burial taking place in 1877. For nearly 150 years, the cemetery has served as a place of remembrance, honoring generations of families who helped build the community. Today, we remain committed to preserving this historic and sacred ground through the support of donations and the careful stewardship of burial plots for future generations.

Cemetery Rules and Regulations
To preserve the dignity, safety, and historical integrity of Trondhjem Cemetery, the following rules apply:
- No burial, interment, or scattering of cremated remains may take place without prior approval from the Cemetery Board and all required permits.
- All burials must comply with Minnesota law and applicable county regulations.
- Burial plots may not be transferred, assigned, or resold without approval and proper documentation.
- Only persons authorized by the plot owner or legal next of kin may arrange for an interment.
- No grave, monument, marker, fence, tree, shrub, or other cemetery property may be removed, altered, or damaged.
- Monument and marker designs, sizes, and installation methods are subject to cemetery approval.
- Planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, or other landscaping on gravesites requires prior approval from the Cemetery Board.
- The Cemetery Board reserves the right to remove decorations, plantings, or other items that interfere with maintenance or detract from the appearance of the cemetery.
- Vehicles must remain on designated roads and driveways.
- Visitors shall conduct themselves respectfully at all times. Activities that disturb services, visitors, or the peaceful nature of the cemetery are prohibited.
- Pets must be under control and owners are responsible for cleanup.
- The Cemetery Board reserves the right to interpret and enforce these rules and to adopt additional regulations as needed for the preservation and operation of the cemetery.
Trondhjem Cemetery is a historic burial ground. All graves, monuments, and burial sites are protected by Minnesota law and must be treated with respect and dignity.
